We are researching the stories of around 120 members of the parish who lost their lives in WW1 and who are commemorated on our War Memorial plaque (right) and the memorial seat outside St Michael & All Angels Parish Hall. Suopported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Foundation, exhibitions about their stories are shown regularly in the church. The first was displayed over the Remembrance season in November 2014.
In 2015, we are honouring the memory of the 15 men who died in 1915 by telling their stories on 14 Remembrance panels in the church. Two are shown below. They will be displayed between Remembrance Sunday November 8th and Saturday November 28th 2015.
St Michael's Sutton Court in Elmwood Rood has been doing something similar, through its Lottery-funded Heroes of Chiswick scheme. Watch out for further details of how we will continue to commemorate the WW1 centenary.
