St Michael and All Angels Church, Bedford Park

St Michael & All Angels
Organ and Parish Rooms Project

Update by Jane Trigle, churchwarden, September 2013.

The organ is now in situ, built, painted, tuned and voiced.  Most of the expenditure has now been paid for in relation to the building works and the organ, but there are still some outstanding items that come to the region of £175k.

This includes the last payments to

  • St Martin Organ makers
  • Final retention payment to Mitre Construction
  • The decorative grille to go in the north aisle arch, to hide the inner workings of the organ
  • Restoration and re-gilding of the Reredos
  • Cast iron gates either side of the organ console

This is our tightest time in the cash-flow, but we still do have the offer of a loan from the diocese to tide us over if necessary.  So far we have managed to squeak by.

Fundraising from trusts has been delayed, but is now getting back on track.  Hopefully we’ll hear good news before Christmas.

Fundraising events coming up include:

  • final push for Pipe Up! to see if we can get it to £100k by the 26th September
  • an evening shopping evening in November
  • table top sales during Advent
  • Katharina Spreckelsen will be organising another Baroque Concert in the early New Year
  • Jonathan Dods is arranging an Organ Recital for the beginning of February
  • A possible ‘Top 50 Hymnathon’ is also under consideration.

Dates for events will be announced in the Sunday Pew Sheets, at services and on our website, so keep checking.
