Advent Calendar & Christmas Appeal 2012
Children’s Art Competition
Every year, St Michael & All Angels creates a special Advent Calendar, as part of its Christmas Appeal in aid of local and overseas charities. It is displayed in the church and online at www.smaaa.org.uk/advent
Every day, from December 1st to 24th, a door is opened to reveal one of the pictures. They are also displayed in Turnham Green Terrace windows.
This year, the 24 pictures will be chosen from entries created by the Children’s Church, Junior Choir and Breakfast Club – so please have a go. You can see (right) two of the great pictures that were produced two years ago.
Entries close at Noon on Sunday November 18th 2012.
The Rules
* Pictures must be on a Christmas or winter theme, such as: angels, Baby Jesus in the stable, the three Kings and the star, shepherds, the ox and the ass, five gold rings, a partridge in a pear tree, snowmen, snowflakes, toys, presents, turkey, Christmas puddings, Christmas tree, Father Christmas…
* Please take lots of care and make them as good and colourful as possible.
* You may use paints or colouring pens.
* They must be a particular size – A5 – half a sheet of A4 paper, so they fit behind the Advent Calendar doors. Please use good quality paper with no lines.
* You can make the picture upright or lengthways (‘Portrait’ or ‘Landscape’).
* Don’t put anything too close to the edge, in case we have to trim it.
* Don’t put your name on the front.
* The competition is open to everyone in St Michael’s Children’s Church, Junior Choir or Breakfast Club. Entries close at Noon on Sunday November 18th 2012.
* The Advent Calendar will go on display on Advent Sunday, December 2nd 2012.
* You may submit as many entries as you like. Please fill in the form below and submit it with your picture, to one of the church leaders or the Parish Office.
