“Caring for God’s Creation”
At St Michael and All Angels, we continue to look for ways to minimise our carbon footprint, consider our impact on the environment and uphold our responsibility to be stewards of Creation.
We are a registered Eco Church working towards our Bronze Award. This scheme, run by A Rocha UK, supports churches to care for God’s creation through their worship, buildings, land, community engagement, and individual lifestyle. We’re well on our way but there’s lots more to do!
SPRING UPDATE 2026
– Join us for our Spring Litter Pick! Saturday 11th April, meet at the church at 10.30am. Equipment provided.
Save the dates
– It’s Earth Hour on Saturday 28th March at 8.30pm – switch off your lights for one hour to support climate action (and save yourself some money!).
– Celebrate Earth Day on 22nd April – why not watch a nature documentary?
– Great Big Green Week is on 6-14 June. Keep an eye out for activities and events in the local area, or why not plan your own? Don’t forget our very own Green Days event (13/14 June)!
Tips for going green
- Planning your summer holiday? Consider alternatives to flying, such as travelling by car or train, or having a staycation in the UK. Google “no fly holidays” for ideas!
- Repair Cafes are popping up everywhere, such as this new one in Richmond. The Chiswick Repair Cafe is held monthly at Christchurch Turnham Green. If it’s broken and you can carry it, they can probably fix it! Their next date is 11th May 2026, click here for more details.
- Avoiding meat and dairy products is one of the biggest ways to reduce your environmental impact. You don’t need to go vegan overnight – even small changes can all add up! This article has 10 ideas to get you started.
