Tenor Madness: New Tones Jazz Orchestra
Book tickets here.
Celebrating the lives and work of tenor saxophone giants John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson, the New Tones Jazz Orchestra (a professional 17 piece big band) will play a selection of famous tunes composed by those legendary musicians. From “Giant Steps” to “St Thomas”, “Recordame” to “Footprints”, the band will play a selection of exciting and rarely played charts.
Led by local pianist James Hayes and featuring Amy Winehouse musicians Aaron Liddard and Giles Straw and West End trumpet players Graham Russell and Andy Gibson, the band comprises London’s finest jazz players and improvisers. Making the most of the wonderful acoustics of St Michael and All Angels church, near the Turnham Green tube station, the band will play in the round, offering their audience a unique experience in watching and hearing the band from all angles.
The event will start at 7pm (doors open at 6:40pm) and proceeds will support the Orchard House School charities.
