Our beautiful church of St Michael & All Angels was designed by acclaimed architect Norman Shaw as the centre of Bedford Park. The unique Grade II* listed building, completed in 1879, continues to be at the heart of the community, providing a hub for festivals, schools, events and celebrations.
The Heritage Conservation Fund has been set up to preserve it for future generations, to encourage local residents to contribute to essential works, maintaining this beautiful building for use by the whole community.

The Heritage Fund is highlighting our Church’s historic and cultural importance. In 2025, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of Bedford Park. Our first major fund-raising event was the Hymnathon 150 on Saturday March 1st. You can read all about it here.
We receive no financial assistance from the Church of England or the Government for the maintenance of our buildings (other than an exemption from VAT on repair work) – and old buildings like ours need constant care and financial upkeep.

See how we have been raising funds to maintain and improve St Michael & All Angels since the 1880’s
Recently, less visible but equally important work has been undertaken: to repair and preserve the exterior wall on the South and West facades of the church for the first time for many years. Money will shortly be needed to complete the North and East faces, at a cost of £200,000 – as well as some essential work on the roof, where squirrels have been eating the lead! Wetter winters have not helped.
