Susan Hunt writes: St Michael’s is fortunate to have a very attractive south and west facing garden that gives pleasure throughout the year both to regular parishioners and many passers by.
Like all gardens it only looks its best when regularly and lovingly tended so many thanks are due to the hard working ‘green fingered’ volunteers who turn out ‘rain or shine’ with me to dig, prune, clear and plant: Richard Seal, Jane Thomson, Jennie Best, Sara Gronmark, Isabel Little, Carol Douglas, Vicky Brooke with William, and Chris Chater.
Special thanks go to Bud Murryweather of the Outer Space Gardening Company who has continued to lead our group of volunteers and also to Patrick Grattan for taking care of the lawn.
At the entrance to the Church, the Spring garden is now growing well and additional bulbs have been planted to extend the seasonal interest. The shrubs planted to screen the compost corner are beginning to mature and the addition of a ‘hot’ herbaceous plants on the west side have added some late summer colour. Following receipt of planning permission, the trees overhanging the road have been pruned.
There is always work to be done. More volunteers are very welcome. We meet at 10.30 am on pre-arranged Saturday mornings following a notice in the weekly pew sheet. Do join us -if you are interested in learning more or would like to come along to our next gardening session, please contact me, Susan Hunt, via the Parish Office.
